What are customers, collectors and the art market looking for?
Lovers and collectors of antique watches are looking for the great names, the watchmakers who left their mark on their time through their technical inventions: the King's watchmakers such as Julien LE ROY, Jean-André LEPAUTE, Jean-Antoine LEPINE, and above all Abraham Louis BREGUET (1747-1823) for his watches of unequalled precision and perfection.
Luxury watches from the major French and Swiss watch manufacturers are the most popular, including ROLEX, BREITLING, CARTIER, JAEGER LECOULTRE, OMEGA, PATEK PHILIPPE, VACHERON CONSTANTIN, CHOPARD and HERMES.
The watch market is particularly buoyant, with records regularly broken at auction in France and abroad. A case in point was the sale on 14 November 2018 at Rennes Enchères, where a sublime ‘tonneau’ wristwatch by PATEK PHILIPPE, one of the most prestigious, found a buyer at €14,500!
