Marine items

Every year, Rennes Enchères Bretagne organises 1 or 2 sales including the Marine Objects speciality in the Furniture & Works of Art Belles auctions.

Do you own a painting or a marine object whose value you would like to know?

Art market trends?

Because they are steeped in history and bring back memories of extraordinary adventures, antiques and marine objects are sought after by collectors and museums dedicated to the Navy. They evoke voyages around the world, the great maritime expeditions and the journeys of the East India Company. They are a reminder of the great hours of sailing in the days of the Royale, of steam and motor ships in the 19th century, and of cruises aboard legendary transatlantic liners in the 20th century.

What collectors are looking for ?

Collectors are looking for rare items in perfect condition: 18th- and 19th-century pontoon models, Dieppe models, shipyard models, scrimshaws, dioramas, 18th-century navigation instruments, 19th-century marine instruments in their mahogany or rosewood cases, old nautical charts, 17th-century port atlases, paintings by marine painters such as Marin-Marie, mechanical toy boats from Märklin... And all curiosities linked to the sea and travel.
