What are customers, collectors and the art market looking for?
Today, gold is more than ever a safe haven. Calculated according to the price of gold, the prices of coins at auction vary, but always remain high. Among the most popular coins are gold Louis, Francs Napoléon, Francs Coq, Souverains, Pesos, Lires and Dollars.
In numismatics, collectors look for royal coins minted in the provinces of France, particularly those bearing the effigy of Louis XIV, and ducal coins. Somewhat neglected in recent years, Gallic coins are now highly prized, especially as the appeal of local history is growing. Since the abandonment of the franc in 2001, banknotes have become popular, provided they are in good condition.
