What are collectors looking for, and what are the trends in the art market?
There are more and more comic strip collectors. Lovers of the 9th art are on the lookout for the rarest copies: comics, plates and original drawings.
First editions by Hergé are setting records at international auctions. The big names are the most sought-after, including Hergé, Sempé, Meobius, Franquin, Vance, Tibet, Lambil, Francq and Peyo.
More recently, items from the world of comic strips, known as ‘Para BD’, are attracting new collectors looking for figurines, posters and toys bearing the effigy of their heroes: Tintin, Asterix and Obelix, Gaston Lagaffe, Marsupilami, Spirou and Fantasio....
Just like the sale on 24 June 2024 at Rennes Enchères Bretagne, which featured a collection of more than 300 figurines, as rare as they were spectacular, for which bids soared.
