Asian art

Every year, Renne Enchères Bretagne organises 3 to 4 sales including the Asian Art speciality in the Belles ventes de Mobilier & Objets d'Art.

Do you own a piece of Far Eastern art in porcelain, lacquer, jade, bronze, a painting, a print or silks? Would you like to know its value?

Caroline Guizard and our expert Alice Jossaume from Cabinet Portier can give you a free and confidential estimate.

What are collectors looking for?

The last ten years have seen the emergence of new collectors in China who want to create their own museums and are therefore looking for very high quality pieces made for the domestic market, which are much rarer than those made for the European market.

Origin is a guarantee of quality, and the condition of the piece is a decisive criterion for collectors. Beautiful pieces are rare and demand is high, so there are sometimes big discrepancies between estimates and results.

In Japan, very fine pieces such as Kakiemon or Mishima porcelain have become rare, as have fine Japanese prints.

More recently, painters from the Hanoi school, such as Lê Pho, Mai-Thu and Vu Cao Dam, have become increasingly popular, breaking auction records in France and abroad.
