Mr. and Mrs. GURBERT's cabinet of curiosities and various

The cabinet of curiosities that had been lying dormant for several years in the attic of an 18th-century house in the historic center of Rennes,

belonged to the painter François Gurbert and his wife Yvette.

This amateur couple's world adjoined the painter's studio, and we'll be presenting a few works from their collections.

Egyptian oushebtis, Roman intaglios, 15th-century Auvergne Christ and Flanders heads, 16th-century Italian Hercules, 17th-century tortoiseshell cabinet,

Far Eastern paintings, African sculptures... will be passed on to other enthusiasts, as Madame Gurbert wished.
