Large flat desk in marquetry of foliate flowering branches on a satin-finish background and violet wood surrounds. With movement on the front and sides, it opens to three drawers on one side and features three simulated drawer fronts on the other. Black leather top adorned with a gilded vignette and edged with a leafy staple molding. Very rich ornamentation of chased and gilded bronzes. Louis XV style - Early 20th century (wear to leather, missing veneer, restorations)

Modelled on the "Duc de Choiseul" desk, this one with lacquer decoration, exhibited in the Louvre Museum, executed by Jacques Dubois, Master in 1742.
