Aubigné Françoise, known as Madame de Maintenon Lettres de Madame de Maintenon, Paris, chez Rollin, 1752/1753. 3 in-12 volumes bound in 1 volume, period binding in full calf. Ornate ribbed spine, red morocco title-piece. A very good copy with a few imperfections. Volume I : 4 ff.n.c.-212 pp. - Volume II: 2 ff.n.c. - 212 pp. Volume III: 202 pp. The first volume contains the letters themselves; the second, letters and portraits of court officials; the third is a biography of Madame de Maintenon's life. At the end of the second volume, it is stated that volumes 3 and 4 are in press. There is no fourth volume in this set; volume III contains the complete biography.
