Interesting mid-eighteenth-century French-made 4/4 violin in the Vieux Paris style bearing a label by LUDOVICIUS GUERSAN. Propè Co. mediam Gallicam Luteciae, anno 1753 perhaps by this maker. Spruce top with finer rings in the center and widening at the edges, two-piece maple back with small, fine, well-marked waves descending to the left, ribs of the same wood with softer waves, gilded yellow-orange varnish, 353 mm, various small fractures restored, two small pieces on the head scroll, wear on the edges and on the top, re-cut notches, small delaminations, good condition in an antique case.
