Silver CALICE, gilt silver bowl (950). PARIS, silversmith Hippolyte-François BERTRAND-PARAUD, 1837-1838. It stands on a circular foot decorated with a cartouche border with knotted palms alternating with medallions, one of which depicts the heart pierced with arrows and a sword. The top of the domed foot is adorned with shells, roses and interlacing cartouches chiseled with the Crucifixion cross, ears of wheat, vine branches and reeds. The stem features a piriform knot between two oval rings, echoing these motifs, and a similarly openwork faux-coupe. Rais de coeur, pearl and gadrooned friezes punctuate the decor. Inscription on the edge of the foot: BERTRAND-PARAUD. Repair trace following a tear on the top of the foot at the base of the stem. Height 31 cm; Diameter (bowl) 9.4 cm; Diameter (foot) 16.2 cm; Weight 641 g. Expert : Sophie VERGNE
