Shipyard half-hull - Shipowner's model of the steam freighte - Lot 11
Shipyard half-hull - Shipowner's model of the steam freighter MIDLAND CITY. The bright works are in weathered pink, the dead works in black. Superstructures and deck panels are lacquered in white and Naples yellow. Doors and portholes are traced in Indian ink. All metal fittings are gilded with fine gold. Part of the vertical support is a mirror, while the angled sides are mirrors. The cabinet woodwork is mahogany, with turned-wood front posts. Two ivory plates are positioned at the back of the display case. The one on the left is engraved with the name of the shipyard: "CRAIG TAYLOR & Co Iron & Steel Shipbuilders & Engineers Stockton on Tees", the one on the right with the boat's specifications. Dimensions of display case: 0.50 x 2.36 x 0.25 m. Circa 1885. Marks of time, sold as is. Sold by designation
