Model of a Basse-Indrais fishing canoe of the misainier type - Lot 5
Model of a Basse-Indrais fishing canoe of the misainier type. Open hull, decked at the bow. Mainsail rigged on its mast. Swimming benches in the cockpit. Large jas anchor allowing the boat to stay at anchor in the current bed. Hull planked on frames, painted in its original colors. Circa 1889, as the signature "A. Libaudière" in ink on the model stand (horn and auric sail damaged). Length 55 cm, height 62 cm. Note: Authentic replica of a traditional fishing boat, used in the Loire estuary. These canoes were around 5 meters long, had a very shallow draught due to the high bottom (mud and sand), and were heavily canvas-covered to overcome the effects of the current. They were generally edged in oak on bent acacia frames. Note 2 : Model of real heritage interest.
