1- Bid physically in the auction room
I bid physically in the auction room
Access to the auction is free and without registration. You can arrive whenever you want, for the entire duration of the sale, or just for the passage of a lot.
The lot is briefly described by the auctioneer or expert. Then the auctioneer starts the bidding at the starting price. It is generally around the lower end of the estimate indicated in the catalogue.
The auctioneer announces the bids from people in the room, purchase orders, and auction platforms.
Once the bidding is over, the auctioneer concludes the sale with a hammer blow accompanied by the phrase "sold".
How can I bid during the sale?
The bid must be made visibly, by raising your hand and the action must be repeated for each counter-bid up to the limit you set for yourself.
If you are the successful bidder of the lot, a colleague will come to meet you to give you a plaque corresponding to your customer number in exchange for a means of payment and an identity card.
At the end of your purchases, you can go to the accounting department to make the payment.
In addition to the auction price, you will have to add the fees of our auction house which amount on average to 25% including tax (excluding exceptions).
2- Submit a firm or telephone purchase order
What is a purchase order?
It is a written agreement indicating the number and description of the lot for which you wish to bid. It can be firm or telephone. In both cases, it is the auctioneer or a Rennes Enchères Bretagne employee who represents you during the sale without any additional costs and in complete confidentiality.
Orders are admissible if they are set at least at the low estimate of the lot.
How to submit a purchase order?
Whether firm or telephone, you have 3 ways to place a purchase order:
- Fill out and send the online form available on our website
- Send a request by email to art@rennesencheres.com
- Fill out the paper form available to you during the exhibition preceding the sale
- In order to record all requests, we close the submission of purchase orders three hours before
- the start of the auction.
So that we can take your purchase request into account, please send us a copy of:
- Two identity documents: identity card, passport, driving license
- A bank identity statement
1. I place a firm purchase order
THE +
The firm purchase order allows you not to exceed the budget you have set for yourself.
What is a firm bid?
This is a bid for which you specify a maximum amount that you wish to bid. You instruct the auctioneer to bid on your behalf at the best possible price at the time of the sale.
How does a firm bid work?
The auctioneer bids for you during the sale, taking into account the maximum amount that you have set. You win the lot if you are the last bidder, even if this maximum amount is not reached.
2. I place a telephone purchase order
THE +
Telephone bidding allows you to place your bids yourself live as if you were in the room.
What is a telephone purchase order?
It is a written agreement in which you ask to be called during the auction by a Rennes Enchères employee, who will announce your bids live to the auctioneer during the sale.
How does a telephone purchase order work?
A Rennes Enchères Bretagne employee calls you and announces your bids live. This allows you not to miss a lot by a few bids, while being at a distance.
