GET ESTIMATED
We offer you different ways to have your property valued:
Online estimate Expertise on precious objects by appointment Home inventory Our free estimate days
To find out more, go to the Estimate/Expertise section
The estimate gives the approximate value of items at a public auction. An object is estimated according to a price range, low and high, corresponding to this value.
The estimate is based on: – The quality of production – The state of conservation – The author – Seniority – The materials – Market trends
The job of the auctioneer and the expert is to conduct in-depth research around your goods in order to give you the fairest possible estimate.
If you have made an appraisal appointment for jewelry, coins, watches, please take your belongings with you.
If the goods are too bulky, do not hesitate to show us photos for a first opinion.
If you would like a property valuation for quick advice, please only bring photos of the goods to be appraised.
The estimate, oral and given for information only, is always free and confidential.
It may concern the estimate on photos, or the expertise by appointment.
On the other hand, if you wish to obtain a written document with legal value at the end of an expert meeting, payment will be required.
On the other hand, if you wish to carry out an inventory at home, we will offer you a package including travel, expertise and production of the inventory file.
The valuation of your property can be carried out directly at your home, if the number of properties to be valued is large and/or if your situation requires it. In this case, the auctioneer or in certain cases, an expert, comes to draw up an inventory of your goods. All of your property, or a selected group, in one or more places of residence may be affected.
The trip to your home is chargeable, and the price varies depending on your place of residence and the volume of objects to be appraised.
Depending on the purpose, the inventory is divided into two categories:
1. The inventory in a voluntary framework The inventory request comes on your own initiative: – For estimation purposes – For sale – For sharing purposes – In insurance value
2. The inventory in a judicial framework – Estate inventory – Inventory within the framework of guardianship or reinforced curatorship
Whatever the purpose, the inventory consists of establishing a list of movable goods in your home, giving a precise description, and giving an estimate. It’s also an opportunity to get to know your objects, or even discover treasures!
We invite you to contact us by telephone to make an appointment on 02 99 31 58 00 or directly with Ms Tiphaine POURET, head of specialties, on 07 57 41 71 48 / t.pouret@rennesencheres.com
If you have a large number of objects to be appraised, we suggest that you first send us overall photos: overviews of the rooms in your home, photos of grouped objects, etc.
If the whole is of interest in terms of public auction value, we can offer you a trip to your home.
If only certain elements seem to be of interest, we will ask you for precise photos of these goods to carry out the expertise.
If unfortunately the whole thing is not of interest on the art market, we will direct you towards solidarity recycling circuits (flea market, Emmaüs, clearance)
Home travel is indeed chargeable.
The price varies depending on the modalities and purposes of the trip:
1. If you wish to carry out an inventory of your goods: An auctioneer or an expert comes to your home, draws up an inventory of your goods and gives you an inventory file at the end. In this case, we will offer you a package including travel, expertise and preparation of the file. This package varies depending on the location of your home, the time spent on site, and the volume of objects to be appraised. The inventory file can serve you in terms of insurance value and sharing value. We invite you to send us photos in advance in order to establish a quote.
If following the inventory you wish to put your goods up for sale at Rennes Enchères Bretagne, the inventory costs may be reduced or offered to you. 2. If you would like a trip for a quick opinion, known as a “courtesy visit”: An auctioneer or clerk comes to your home to give you a quick opinion on the value of your goods. We take on-site photos of items of interest and contact you to give you estimates orally over the phone. Unlike the inventory, we do not provide you with a written file having legal value. It’s an accessible and quick way to find out the history and value of your property. If you subsequently wish to offer your goods for sale, we will assist you in the process.
This service is provided in the surrounding areas close to Rennes at a cost of €60.
SELL
Choosing auctions is an effective way to sell your goods at the fairest price thanks to expertise and market knowledge that you will not find elsewhere.
Often overlooked, the auction is actually a simple and accessible way to sell your items in a wide variety of areas and prices.
To find out everything about estimation, go to the Estimation/Expertise section. Once the estimate has been made we will carry out a sales requisition.
Once the estimate has been completed, if you wish to offer your property for sale, we will send you a sales requisition.
The sales requisition, also called a sales mandate, is the contract by which the owner of a property instructs an operator to sell it at public auction. The mandate must be in writing. It includes the seller's contact details, the description of the item and the terms of the sale: date and place, amount of sales costs and additional costs, possibly reserve price. The sale requisition may be revoked, if necessary upon payment of the costs incurred by the operator, until the time of the sale. The requisition is a contract, which binds you to Rennes Enchères Bretagne, designated as agent responsible for the sale of your property.
The sales requisition includes: – The description of the property – The estimate – The auction date – Our general conditions of sale – Seller fees (around 24% including tax) – Details of the various taxes and fees to be paid in the event of a sale: Seller fees: Rennes Enchères Bretagne’s commission on the proceeds of the sale (around 24% including tax) Capital gains tax (in certain cases) Import taxes for items outside the EU (in certain cases) Resale right (in certain cases)
In your requisition, you have the possibility of setting a reserve price, on the advice and in agreement with the auction house. This is a price below which you do not want your property to be sold. This price cannot be higher than the low estimate given to you at the time of the appraisal.
It all depends on the property you entrust to us for sale.
In fact, our sales are organized by specialty according to a quarterly calendar. We organize between 1 and 4 sales per year for each specialty.
Therefore, the time it takes to put it on sale can vary from a few weeks to several months. We will inform you of the sale date when sending your requisition.
If you are in an emergency situation with imposed deadlines (inheritance, guardianship, etc.) we can arrange for the sale of your property as a priority.
In accordance with the provisions of article L. 321-11 of the commercial code, “the reserve price is the minimum price agreed with the seller below which the good cannot be sold. If the property has been valued, this price cannot be set at an amount higher than the lowest estimate appearing in the advertisement, or announced publicly by the person carrying out the sale and recorded in the report.
It is not automatic and must be the subject of an agreement between the seller and the OVV.
The latter is, moreover, subject to a duty of advice which must encourage him to advise his seller to set a reserve price for valuable goods in order to avoid the risk of seeing them sold at a low price.

To find out everything about auctioning, go to How to sell.
With some exceptions, the sales costs are 25% including tax in addition to the hammer price.
For certain prestigious sales, our fees may be 24% or 25% including tax.
In the case of a judicial sale, the legal fees are 14.28% including tax.
Our costs are systematically announced in the catalog, on our website, and at the start of the sale by the auctioneer.
And if they are unsold, do I have to recover my items?
If your property does not find a buyer, it is “withdrawn” from sale.
We then offer you: – To collect your property (by appointment to be agreed) – To present it again in another sale at a lower estimate. If your property is presented for sale several times, without finding a buyer, we will invite you to come and collect it.
